What Is The Housing Support Program?
Housing Support (formerly known as Group Residential Housing or GRH) is a state program that helps adults who need support with housing costs and daily living services. The program provides financial assistance for things like:
- Rent or room and board in approved housing settings
- Basic utilities and household items
- Some personal care or supervision, depending on the housing provider
It’s designed to support older adults, people with disabilities, and those living with mental health conditions who would otherwise struggle to maintain housing on their own.
Who Qualifies for Housing Support?
You may be eligible for Housing Support in Minnesota if you meet the following basic criteria:
- Be 65 years of age or older, or have a documented disability.
- Meet income and asset limits as defined by the program.
- Be homeless, at risk of homelessness, or residing in an approved housing setting such as licensed adult foster care, board and lodge, or other designated supportive housing.
In many cases, individuals receiving Medical Assistance (MA) or those eligible for Housing Stabilization Services also qualify for Housing Support.
